I feel so grateful to have met and, it also seems, to have been “discovered” by Kim Hayden who has included me in her Kim’s Kitchen adventure along with the darling cohosts Sean Liv and Reagan Burton… During Season One, Kim, upon finding my booth at a local vintage market, immediately asked me to come onto her local Calgary Talkshow to teach her viewers How To… specifically how to make a teacup lamp!
I was thrilled… and nervous… but pushed myself through the nerves knowing that even if I completely flubbed it up it would be an incredible learning opportunity!… I’d never been filmed before… let alone for a TV Show! My film day came around about a week after I’d had my wisdom teeth out… I managed to ice my head enough so that I was not a bruised up chipmunk 🙂 On that season one episode of Kim’s Kitchen I filmed not one but two diy segments!… The teacup lamp and then a small repurposed pallet wood box with painted jars.
Shortly after appearing on that one episode of Season one of Kim’s Kitchen Kim asked me to return to EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. of the following season with a DIY segment on each show!… THEN after Season Two I joined Kim in her 4 Episode Family Christmas Special as the DIY elf, with puppet sidekick, teaching viewers how to make a Christmas decoration and a gift on each of the episodes… We JUST wrapped filming Season Three of Kim’s Kitchen, which is airing right now on Shaw TV Calgary on on Shaw Direct across Canada… you can even catch it anywhere in the world on LiveStream as it is airing on ShawTV Calgary!… then a few months after the shows air on TV they find their way to the Kim’s Kitchen YouTube Page.
We always have a riot filming the show and I can’t imagine my life without these inspiring, strong, supportive women!… during film days Daniel, of InHouze Productions, is onset shooting behind the scenes footage which he turns into these hilarious promotional videos for each episode… I just had to come and share the one above with you!… This whole blog post all came about today after I watched this Episode Four promo video this morning – I laughed and shared the link with all of my friends on Facebook and then thought about how this whole adventure came about… let’s just call this sentimental Sunday 😉
