Succulent Book Planter Workshop

It’s official!… I’ve held my first book planter workshop!… Four fabulously fun ladies came and spent the evening with me, and Kyle of Plant at his shop in Inglewood, to learn how to turn an old hard covered book into a sweet succulent planter!… we had mimosas, many laughs, some sweet snacks and then everyone went home with a beautiful creation that they made and planted up!…

I have to admit… I was nervous before the class started… but as everyone came in and started choosing their books, and we got to chatting, the nerves quickly went away…

Kyle and I had little thank yous for our workshop participants… Who doesn’t love glitter?… and who wouldn’t want a coupon off their next visit to Plant!?… really… have you been to Plant?!… I could spend hours in that little shop… serious, serious eye candy in there folks…

Everyone was eager to know how we were going to turn the book into a planter… so after we got beverages in hand we quickly got to work… cutting, and cutting, and then cutting some more… once we had the space made in our books for the plants, and the inside lined with our little origami like freezer paper boxes everyone got to browse the shop for their plants…

Kyle talked everyone through which plants would work best, and how to take care of them… but loves this just isn’t slapping some little plants into dirt… no way… Kyle gives his insight on turning your new planter into an incredible little landscape… a little creation that looks like it was scooped up from the side of a mountain and dropped into your book…

If you’ve been to Plant you know what I’m talking about… Kyle teaches you how to make creations in his beautiful and natural style!… it’s unreal!…

Class participants have so much choice to dress their plantings… various rocks, sands, mosses, bark chips…
